Before we get into color(s), materials and methods we need to understand the size and scope of your project. The first consideration: Is this a singular one time signage need or will it be an ongoing and evolving project that will require periodic additions and changes? Will your signage be interior, exterior or possibly both? Another basic question to consider is size(s). Lighting is another issue that may need to be addressed. These are some of the basic questions that need to be answered initially to develop a workable plan for your project. Do you already have something in mind? Possibly you've seen a signage format that you would like to emulate. We understand that most people look at a vast array of signage every day and don't give it a second thought. Everything from traffic signs to the overhead menus at the local fast food chain are, of course, signage. The main thing good signage should do is inform. It should be clear, concise, to the point and asthetically pleasing. Directory/Wayfinding signage should be understandable and unambiguous. In certain cases floors and mapping may be called for. Business signage needs to be easily readable and comprehensible. In some cases there may be "branding" issues that can be as simple as a color scheme and font or there may be a logo/insignia involved. HI-TEC understands these issues and is here to help you with your signage project from initial conception through satisfied completion.
Before we can make a decision on materials we will need to know color requirements. What color(s) are required can narrow the material choices down to a somewhat reasonable level. Is there a logo involved? Can that logo be engraved or will it require a more complex process? Generally 2 color logos can be engraved although there are limitations to deal with and quite often even multi-color logos can be engraved. Hard and fast rules are rare in the signage business. The more options there are and the more flexible you can be on these questions will, in turn, give you more choices as far as your signage is concerned. Do you have a preference for plastic or metal? Keep in mind that plastic engraving materials are manufactured in realistic and very attractive metallic finishes these days so this is not always an easy question. Then there are the frame choices ... Aluminum? Plastic? Color? Finish? Flat or Convex? Plastic frames are generally less expensive than aluminum and offer more color choices. If we were to give one single piece of advice to a potential client it would be ... Take note of the signage that you see every day as far as format, color scheme, functionality, etc. and what you like about it as well as what you would change. Doing this one simple exercize will give you a basic place to start. From there take a look through our signage gallery and see if there's anything that catches your eye and maybe even some on-line window shopping if time allows. We will do everything we can to secure your business and make you another satisfied HI-TEC customer.
